Issues that are important to me:
A Living Wage
VA Passenger Rail Service

Virginia Passenger Rail Service

Imagine a future for all Virginians with less traffic congestion, less dependency upon foreign oil, less pollution of the air and more choices how to travel between home, business, shopping and recreation.

On June 22, 2005 Meredith Richards and Commonwealth Transportation Board representative Butch Davies announced the formation of Charlottesville Citizens for Better Rail Alternatives at a press conference at historic Union Station on West Main St.

Dependable, convenient intercity passenger rail service can and should be a larger part of this picture. We must invest in a future transportation network that includes a greater role for passenger rail, as well as greater reliance on rail for hauling freight.

As a member of Governor Mark Warner’s Commission on Rail Enhancement for the 21st Century, past President of the Virginia Transit Association, and Board member of Virginians for High Speed Rail, I have experience to lend to this effort.

I am working with local citizens, government officials, business leaders, tourism and transportation officials to develop reliable, daily passenger rail service between Charlottesville, VA and Washington, D.C. We have formed Charlottesville Citizens for Better Rail Alternatives to advance this cause. You can learn more by visiting our website at www.cvillerail.org.
